Smarter Tree Data Management
We’re excited to share our 2025 software development roadmap, delivering faster performance and new arboricultural digital mapping features.
Behind the scenes, we are refining the roadmap to ensure it meets both arboricultural operational needs and future challenges.
This collaborative approach provides you and your team with software that evolves with your business and delivers lasting value.
The journey to smarter tree management continues.

V2 Spreadsheets
We’ve built powerful new improvements into our automated Excel spreadsheets, the aim of which includes standardising the display of data across all Apps.
You now have access to editable, colour-coded categorisation and an improved layout of headers, as well as enhanced display of your data and images.
We have also locked down some of the cells for security and provided additional colour coding to enable users to identify cells where they can input data for automatic calculation or reference.

Introduction of the FGDB Format
FGDB stands for File Geodatabase, an Esri-developed format for storing geographic data. It’s a file-based database, essentially a folder containing multiple files that work together to represent spatial data. FGDBs are the recommended format for working with spatial data in ArcGIS Pro and are commonly used for exchanging data between Esri products.
Unlike shapefiles, which are a collection of separate files, FGDBs store all data within a single folder, simplifying data management. FGDBs also support larger datasets and a wider range of data types than shapefiles.

– Method of Tree Risk Management
Our tree risk management software has been enhanced with a clear nine-point Method, giving arboriculturists a practical framework to achieve and maintain a Low Risk Value for every surveyed tree. This structured approach means you can assess conditions, identify hazards, and plan actions with confidence and consistency.
A built-in Checklist Guide ensures no defect or site condition is overlooked, while a priority-based action timeline categorises works from Very High to Very Low. This not only streamlines decision-making but also helps demonstrate a clear, defensible audit trail.
By combining structure with flexibility, the software empowers you to work faster, capture more detail, and deliver robust, professional risk assessments that support safer trees and smarter resource planning.
An arboricultural criteria component is also being introduced that includes consideration of the tree target zone.
Tree Canopy Cover Assessments
Mapscape has partnered with the University of Bristol in participation of ESGI 187 (July 2025), where we were able to attract a highly qualified and passionate scientific team of 13, including, 2 x Associate Professors, 3 x Lecturers, Post Doctoral researchers and PhD researchers to develop a scientifically advanced mathematical model, for projecting tree canopy growth over time linked to carbon sequestration.
This project was successful, and its breakthrough results will form the basis of an automated software solution represented visually in Mapscape as a timeline slider that will dynamically grow tree canopies including their BS 5837:2012 – RPAs and Tree Risk Management Target Zones, that include measurements of tree canopy growth using science-led methods.
